Clear

Description

Innovative and packed with state-of-the art features, the new Canon EOS R offers a responsive, high-speed auto-focus in as little as 0.05 seconds1. Whether you’re shooting portraits, landscapes, street, travel, weddings or video, the advanced technology of Canon EOS R enables you to extend your storytelling and create images never previously possible.

Canon EOS R

High-speed communication

Canon’s engineers have re-designed the EF lens mount especially for the Canon EOS R System with a unique 12-pin connection. This innovation radically improves communication between the camera’s lens and body, making it faster with EOS R than was previously possible.

The RF lens mount is extremely wide with a shallow depth from the mount to the sensor. The design allows lenses to be closer to the sensor, enabling the creation of faster, brighter, higher-quality optics with unsurpassed performance.

Fast, pin-sharp focusing

Canon EOS R offers a full-frame 30.3 Megapixel Dual Pixel CMOS AF sensor which focuses without compromise thanks to its advanced phase detection system allowing the user to select between 5655 AF positions2. It uses the vast majority of the sensor’s pixels (80% of the horizontal pixels and 100% of the vertical) to result in super-fast autofocus for stills as well as smooth focus tracking when you’re shooting video.

A truly silent camera

In situations where you want to shoot with complete discretion, the click of a camera’s shutter firing can alert your subject and wreck a great opportunity. This is as true for informal wedding photography as it is for shooting wildlife at close range.

EOS R is the first Canon camera to offer a totally silent shooting mode, so you can take pictures without ever disturbing the subject. Used in combination with the Vari-angle screen, silent shooting

Great images direct from your camera

Many of the EOS R’s impressive functions are made possible by the powerful DIGIC 8 processor. Its key benefits include better communication between camera and lens, resulting in faster AF and best-ever images straight from your camera.

Its ultra-fast processing speed and power means EOS R’s improved Digital Lens Optimizer is always operating, without affecting camera performance. It guarantees optimum quality, aberration-free images.

Professional-level filmmaking

EOS R offers the same high level of 4K video features found in the EOS 5D Mark IV, plus advanced upgrades such as noise reduction to improve high ISO performance.

The combination of EOS R’s CMOS sensor with the DIGIC 8 processor means you can shoot in richly-coloured, highly-detailed 4K video with 10-bit output via HDMI. This professional-level video output gives you maximum editing possibilities as well as 4K time-lapse shooting and 4K movie-frame grabs. EOS R features both a headphone socket and a microphone mini mic input.

Setting new standards in creativity

With a high-speed and wide lens mount, EOS R is an interchangeable lens camera that’s compatible with the new era of RF lenses which have been designed to work at the optimum distance from a full-frame sensor. This combination of high performance optics and a pioneering lens mount form a truly creative camera that pushes forward the frontiers of photography and filmmaking.

Canon EOS R

See and capture more, with a sensor built around precision

The EOS R boasts a full-frame 30.3 Megapixel Dual Pixel CMOS AF sensor which focuses without compromise thanks to its advanced phase detection system advanced DIGIC 8 processing and in-camera Digital Lens Optimizer.

The small and stylish body of EOS R alongside with the technical innovations at its heart, enable you to produce still images and video of exceptional quality. Built-in top-of-the-range Canon features such as Dual Pixel CMOS AF, DP RAW, DIGIC 8 processor and Canon Log help you realise your true creative vision.

Unrivalled quality

EOS R features a Canon’s own 30.3 Megapixel CMOS sensor. It provides high ISO performance and high resolution combined with wide dynamic range. It delivers high-resolution images of unrivalled quality and depth and can record rich detail with low noise up to an amazing ISO 40,000.

EOS R also features the Dual Pixel RAW function, first introduced in the EOS 5D Mark IV. Used with Canon Digital Photo Professional software, it allows you to fine-tune sharpness and change the viewpoint or foreground bokeh for a more pleasing result in post-production.

Fast continuous shooting

For photojournalists, travel and wedding photographers wanting to capture spontaneous or fast action, EOS R offers a blistering 8fps continuous shooting. The camera makes use of Canon’s experience in high-speed readout technologies and its DIGIC 8 processor to achieve a balance between high pixel count and shooting agility. EOS R includes a large buffer and fast write speeds onto a USH-II SD card, so you’ll never have to wait for the camera to catch up.

Create cinematic epics

Filmmakers creating cinematic epics will relish using Canon’s most advanced video product outside of the Cinema EOS line. EOS R offers UHD 4K video output in 10-bit via HDMI, which gives highly detailed, uncompressed, footage. You can also use the Canon Log feature for extended dynamic range, which allows maximum editing flexibility when grading in post-production.

Enjoy the world of EOS with a range of special accessories

For photographers and filmmakers who already own a range of EF and EF-S lenses, the EOS R offers full compatibility via an adapter with no loss of performance or quality. Canon’s Speedlite flash range offers flexible and creative lighting possibilities while EOS accessories open the door to greater creativity.

EOS R is the latest member of the renowned EOS family and fully compatible with a system developed over three decades of continuous refinement. With the innovative design of EOS R, you’ll find it easy to use with other EF, EF-S lenses, Speedlite flashes and accessories via adapter.

Exceptional optical performance

The RF lenses are specially designed to complement EOS R and set new standards in resolving power. The secret of their success is the redesigned lens mount, which places the lens at the optimum distance from the sensor. This ingenious design has opened up new opportunities to create a range of EOS R L-series lenses which offer excellent optical performance, ensuring maximum detail is recorded in the image.

Use your EF or EF-S lenses

As well as RF lenses, you can also use the full range of Canon EF or EF-S lenses on EOS R with absolutely no loss of image quality or performance, via a choice of adapters1. These adapters maintain full communication between body and lens but offer greater control, allowing you to keep using your own lenses and explore others in the Canon lens system.

canon Eos r

Explore a high range of lighting possibilities

Another benefit of being part of the EOS family is that Canon EOS R is also compatible with existing Canon accessories including the current full range of Speedlite flashguns and specialist products such as the Macro Ring Lite series. This gives you even more creative options for low-light or creative photography while enjoying the technical benefits of the EOS R.The perfect blend of handling and great design

Canon EOS R has the same comfortable handgrip found on EOS DSLRs and coupled with a high degree of customisation. Innovations such as a multi-function touch bar, a high resolution electronic viewfinder and vari-angle screen, makes it a camera designed to perform effortlessly and intuitively.

The Canon EOS R is a compact, light camera that is smaller than other EOS full-frame DSLRs. Its ergonomic design makes it a dream to use. It packs in all the high-quality EOS features you’d expect, plus offers new and exciting ones that further enhance your shooting experience.

Compact, ergonomic design

From the moment you pick up the Canon EOS R, you’ll find it feels comfortable in your hands. As part of the EOS family, it features the same style hand grip found on DSLR models. The LCD’s intuitive menu system will also be familiar to EOS users. Controls are easy to access, while also offering the added flexibility of being easily customised to suit your own personal preferences. EOS R is the camera you want it to be.

canon eos r

Vari-angle touch screen

Canon EOS R’s 3.15-inch Vari-angle touch screen is bright and clear with an incredible 2.1 million dots to render high resolution images and recorded movies with amazing sharpness and clarity. It can be adjusted to a wide range of angles to help you shoot difficult-to-access subjects, while screen reflections are greatly reduced by Canon’s Clear View II technology. Being able to change the LCD’s colour tone also helps you match your shots to the way you like to view a scene.

Canon EOS R

A viewfinder with a difference

Shooting with Canon Canon EOS R’s 3.69 million dot Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) enables you to see 100% of the scene and, because you’re holding it to your eye, it gives you a more traditional shooting experience. It also brings added benefits which you don’t get with a traditional optical viewfinder: you can view how the final image will look in real time and see your subject clearly even when it’s in near-darkness. When you don’t have the viewfinder to your eye, a built-in sensor automatically switches the image to the screen, saving battery power. The viewfinder can also be used for video in bright light, making it much easier to switch from shooting stills to video.

Focusing features

When you’re shooting with the EVF, you can quickly and accurately select the AF area by using Touch and Drag focusing. Using this function, you can effectively use the touch screen as a touch pad while you look through the viewfinder. And when your subject is better suited to manual focusing, use EOS R’s focus magnification or focus peaking features for higher accuracy over sharpness.

Customisable multi-function bar

Canon EOS R’s innovative features include its unique multi-function bar. This is a touch-operated control interface that can be customised for a range of functions, from controlling AF to setting your ISO speed or white balance. It’s similar to the familiar EOS control wheel, but with the added benefit of silent operation and enhanced weatherproofing.

Tough, durable, weather-sealed body

Canon EOS R’s tough magnesium alloy body offers a high standard of protection. Its advanced dust and moisture resistance makes it Canon’s most weather resistant mirrorless camera available to date.
